Get to Know Silicon Beach

Get to Know Silicon Beach

Silicon Beach is a relatively recent phenomenon, dating back maybe only as far as late 2011, which is the first significant mention I found by the LA Times (Dot-coms want the beach in their address).

There was definitely no Silicon Beach when I was a digital tech entrepreneur in the early 2000’s. I remember how isolated it felt to be a tech company in LA and trekking down to Orange County to talk money because that was where the bio-tech guys hung out.

Great weather, surfing, beach sports, lifestyle, “affordable” real estate and proximity to the entertainment industry are major drivers in LA’s – and specifically Silicon Beach’s – growth over Silicon Valley and other tech hubs. And it doesn’t hurt that we have our finger on the pulse of “hip” and “cool.”  Learn more

Silicon Beach Community Spotlight - Venice Beach 90291

Silicon Beach Community Spotlight Venice Beach 90291Venice is an eclectic beach community that traces its roots to land developer Abbot Kinney. Abbot Kinney Boulevard, running diagonally through Venice, was named "The Coolest Block In America" by GQ Magazine in 2012.

Bounded on the South by Washington Boulevard and Venice Pier, on the north by Navy/Dewy Streets and on the east (give or take a few blocks on the south end) by Walgrove Avenue, Venice boasts Muscle Beach, Ocean Front Walk (more casually known as the "Venice Boardwalk"), acclaimed surf hotspot Venice Breakwater, the Venice Pier and other sports and water-oriented landmarks.

Venice has always been known as a hangout for the creative and the artistic, going back to the 1960's. It's no wonder Venice is the gritty creative heart of Silicon Beach. Learn more about Venice homes for sale and homes for lease >>

Tracy Thrower Conyers Silicon Beach Real Estate Expert

Meet Your Silicon Beach Real Estate Expert

Tracy Thrower Conyers started Silicon Beach Properties with a big goal - to create a place where digitally sophisticated consumers can find like-minded real estate professionals to fill in the pieces of the real estate puzzle that tech can't cover.

With this big goal, Tracy launched Silicon Beach Properties just as tech was touching down in LA in a big way. In 2013, tech barely registered in LA, but the coming tsunami was gaining momentum.

What does Tracy know about tech and real estate? After 15 years as a complex business attorney, she co-founded one of the first tech companies to bring MLS listings to websites, right here in LA. Remember that time before Zillow? It was barely 17 years ago. On the bleeding edge, Tracy and her partner were "Silicon Beach" before there was a "Silicon Beach."

Because Tracy and her team embrace tech and run a largely paperless office, they are able to efficiently and effectively help a lot of people utilizing a small team model. Don't be fooled by big teams claiming they are better equipped to help you. They are quite simply, just more mouths to feed ... at your expense. Read more about Tracy >>

How's The Market Venice?

How's The Market Venice?

The #1 question realtors get asked is "how's the market?" It's such a big question. I almost never know where to start. Different people think different criteria tell the story. Below are six that I think best answer the question, along with trend graphs as of December 31st. All graphs depict a 12 month rolling average to smooth out the trendlines, unless otherwise indicated. This means that each data point is 12 months of activity.
